Like 2020, in 2021 community gardens in Toronto will continue to operate under regulations designed to safeguard volunteer gardeners and reduce the spread of Covid-19 while allowing food security initiatives to proceed.
Toronto is currently under a Stay At Home order.
Volunteers who have permission to work in the garden may continue their work while abiding by the restrictions they have agreed to, which includes a reduced number of volunteers working concurrently. In addition to volunteers, others may be passing through our park. We ask that everyone follow public health guidelines when in the garden. Stay home if you are feeling unwell or possibly exposed to Covid-19. When in the garden, please keep a distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from others, and after returning home, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 15 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Masks are strongly recommended. For up-to-date guidelines, please refer to https://www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/
Like 2020, in 2021 produce will be donated through Second Harvest or community groups providing food services. We will also be donating directly to Community Head Injury Resource Services (CHIRS) to provide food to their clients. It is important not to cut or pull out produce so that we can maximize our harvesting for families in need.
