Welcome to the 2026 season! Volunteers braved the icy weather recently for winter sowing. Winter sowing is the practice of planting seeds in translucent containers and leaving them outside in the snow and rain until April, when the warmer weather will have encouraged the plants to start growing. We then transfer the seedlings into our garden beds and get a head start.
This year we winter sowed kale, collard greens (new for us), cabbage, leeks, dill, salvia, cosmos and blazing star. Thank you to our very cold hardy volunteers – Kat, Eri, Esther, Meena, Lorna, Andria, Janet, Paul, Kat, Becky, Pat and Brenda.
